I don't post much on Navy issues, not my community and they can be a quiet bunch. Besides, how can I compete against Information Dissemination and Springbored Springboard? The Littoral Combat Ship sure is purty, but can we afford it?

Would love to see that teamed up with the Seaview.

These Navy Days...
Memories; how very very different from today's Navies.
Splicing rope or wire.
Manning the guns.
Small arms.
Sweeping mines.
Quartermaster; Bosun's Calls, and Helm.
Painting ship.
Holystoning wood decks.
Sleeping in a hammock.
Keeping lookout.
Knowing how to navigate, chartwork and sail.
Commando trained (by Royal Marines)
And that's just routine for an Able Seaman on various ships in the RN of 1950's-l960's.
Versatility.
Times move on...
Are these new ships, ships at all?
I guess I'll have to go aboard one and find out.
