SHORTER Michael O'Hanlon: "Even though the FY10 defense budget is largely the same in funding as what President Bush proposed, President Obama is shorting the Defense Department by not throwing billions more at its forces."
Oh, Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. When will you learn? There's this thing called a QDR that is supposed to drive these discussions and a new administration who wants to actually do the right thing by developing a sound post-Cold War strategy, once we can reduce our footprint in the Middle East. Why do you rush out these silly proclamations? Oh, you have a new book to promote. Never mind.
UPDATE: O'Hanlon ought to be paying more attention to the waste, fraud and abuse in the defense acquisition system and the role of Congress in reviewing and approving defense funds before he casts stones at the White House. Dana Milbank (writing the latter linked article) is especially scathing in his comments on the political-military-industrial complex today.
