New Defense Team Announced
Matt Yglesias says the Obama team is announcing the make-up of its defense team. As expected, William Lynn, a former OSD Comptroller under President Bill Clinton, will be the Deputy Secretary of Defense. Michèle Flournoy, co-founder of the Center for a New American Security and former Clinton administration official, will be the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. As such, she will be the first female in that position and the highest ranking woman in DOD. I'm betting that Richard Danzig will keep in the background for now until SecDef Bob Gates decides he's had enough fun.
Ah! Here's the Reuter's article.
Lynn, currently a senior executive with Raytheon Co, served as Pentagon comptroller from 1997 to 2001 and previously headed the Defense Department's Program Analysis and Evaluation office.
Obama also named Michele Flournoy, a former principal deputy assistant defense secretary, to become under secretary of defense for policy; and Robert Hale, former assistant secretary of the Air Force, as comptroller. Jeh Johnson, former Air Force general counsel, was named to become Defense Department general counsel.
Interesting times... Longer WaPo article here with up-to-date bios.

aww jeez...
