Hopefully they will OUTLAW this weapon for domestic use. There's been alot of BUZZ about how this weapon was developed to be used on American citizens who demonstrate in large marches....

"Exquisite" timing that they unveiled this nmonstrosity the day before the anti war (anti george) march on DC this month.

Buzz...Buzz...

Hmmm, that dish looks like it ought to have "Point RPG Here" painted on it.

Oh my god, Alex. You made me spit out the water I was drinking. Well said, sir, well said.

Alex: just what I was thinking. This device, from the point of view of the crowd, is an escalation. That is, if you violently disperse a crowd that's gathered to wave signs and shout slogans, they might come back an hour later with weapons.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the weapon as such, but the mindset behind it amounts to that of the general who sniffed that once the masses get a whiff of grapeshot, they'll go home. Sometimes they do. And sometimes it just pisses them off. It'll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts psychologically to a having a pain ray turned on them. I believe they'll hold a grudge.

Incidentally, I haven't heard anything useful about how to protect against it. Would a thick layer of body paint stop or slow the effect? What if you mixed metal dust in it? What about mud?

Sigger's Law

  • Sigger's Law: "As any discussion on terrorism grows longer, the probability of attributing terrorists with nuclear weapons (or similar destructive capabilities) approaches 1." Corollary to Sigger's Law: "Once such an observation is made, the discussion is finished and whoever mentioned terrorist possession of nuclear weapons has automatically lost whatever debate was in progress."
